DSCN2859

At the left side: Dika, Ivana, Kezia, Ivander, Mr. Steven Oroh
At the right side: Mr. Heri Iskowanto, Andhika, Richard, Samuel
Taking picture: Mr. Ishak S. Wonohadidjojo

All are participants of 2008 SELC, except for Dika who is very interested in leadership and joins Makasar SELCers meeting every week, and Samuel who will be new participant of 2009 SELC.

They were at Mall Panakukkang, Makasar. Pak Ishak shared how SELC will be from Level 1 until Level 4. There is a possibility of having SELC in Makasar and those who have joined all levels will be the committee. That is so exciting!

Keep the good work, Makasar!

SELC Jakarta Reunion – 16 May 2009

SELC Jakarta Reunion!
16 May 2009

P1210893

2008 SELC Jakarta participants decided to meet and hang out together at May 16, 2009 in Grand Indonesia, a mal in Jakarta. Too bad, only nine people came!

In the picture (top row): Yohana Theresa, Eveline Surjana, Natasha Capirossi (from Bintang Mulia, Bandung), Eunike Kosasih (from Tunas Bangsa, Tangerang)
(middle row): Janice L. Laskarus (from Tunas Bangsa, Tangerang)
(bottom row): Indira E. Listiyanto & Prishanti Dipita (from Bina Bakti, Bandung), Jane S. Tjahjono (Tunas Bangsa, Tangerang)

Not in the picture: Fanni Leets (from ACSI, Surabaya) taking picture :D

Apparently nobody from Jakarta comes. Guys, where were you? :)

We agreed to meet at Starbucks, but unfortunately there are 2 Starbucks at GI, and most of us never went to GI, so we spent a lot of time trying to find each other LOL. Then, we bought very sour Sour Sally, had a good dinner at the food court, talked about a lot of things, including the next 2009 SELC, ate the very sour Sour Sally, and we did some book shopping after that.

And it was very thoughtful of Pipit to bring her 2008 SELC T-Shirt for us to write and sign on. We stained her T-Shirt with a lot of comments :)

For more pictures, if you have facebook, a lot of pictures are there. Here are the links of the picture albums uploaded by Fanni Leets, Pipit, and Tasha:

Picture album 2
Picture album 3

Comments are very much encouraged. Please do tell us what  you think!

Upcoming: SELC Reunion in Makasar and SELC Reunion (again!) by the Bonfires, and perhaps a list of who goes where because I think some of you move to another city or study abroad.

Blessings,
Fanni Leets

Dia, aku, dan mereka

I know whom I believe and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed until that day.

Small is beautiful.

Awalnya aku hanya butuh komunitas.

Melihat pertumbuhan kerohanian mereka membuat aku bahagia.

Banyak jiwa terhilang tanpa harap

Apa yang kan  kau perbuat tuk mereka..

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

Comments about SELC

“Being involved with SELC was such a great opportunity. It was very encouraging to see the students’ energy and passion for Jesus Christ. We were able to form great relationships with the students, mentors, and ACSI team as we learned together about the importance of being Christian leaders and about the skills necessary to become those leaders. The students were able to learn both about leadership qualities such as servant-leadership and leading with integrity, as well as about key leadership skills such as public speaking and program planning. They got practical, hands-on experience during workshops to practice these skills.

The bonds that we were able to form with the students and mentors will be long lasting. It really felt like we were a big family. The hardest part of conference was saying goodbye. I would highly recommend anyone that has the chance to take part in this amazing event. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”

“The SELC program was an incredible experience. The Conference allowed so many Christian students from across Indonesia to gather together, learn about leadership, make friends, refine their English skills, and worship. As a speaker, it was an enormous honor to witness the passion and the amazing abilities of the students. Their friendliness and cooperation were beyond imagination. The Conference was a joy and makes me sincerely excited for Indonesia’s bright future.

That sounds a little dull. In short, the students were the best. It was incredible to see God working through them and the Conference as a whole. I hope the program can continue and that more students and speakers will be able to enjoy it.”

“I am so glad that God allowed me to be a part of this SELC leadership conference. It was so amazing to see God work in the lives of the students and in my life. It was so amazing to meet so many new people and to build amazing relationships with the students. The students were so amazing. It was amazing to see how excited they were to learn about Christian leadership. They never complained when things went wrong and they made our Cedarville team feel so welcome even though we were in a different country. The leadership skills that the students were able to take away from this camp will be extremely helpful.

I already miss everyone, students and ASCI staff, so very much and I hope that I am able to meet all of you again soon!”

“I must say that I’m very thankful God opened a way for you Cedarvillians to come to a country like Indonesia. SELC has been the best thing that’s happened in my life, for even until now, we’re all still contacting each other. I’m still in touch with the people both in Bandung and Jakarta… and even Papua. We’re even trying to get together (city-wise) just for a day of hanging out before I go back to Canada.

The program has also got me thinking about serving more and I can see that it has encouraged us to serve Him more. It has also encouraged me to help up in Indonesia after studying. I hope it’s God’s will for me to help in Indonesia, but even if it isn’t, I’m quite excited to find out what His plans for me (and for us all) is.
(Okay, I don’t usually talk/type like this..so it feels a bit weird.)

So I am very thankful for this program. If a level two does reappear next year, I will be very overjoyed. Even though it will be expensive, I pray that God will open a way for me to come.

Well, the real point of this email is to notify you of my email. Yes, this is my email. Oh, and I am Jason Theophilus if you still don’t know who I am.”

“I glad to follow the camp and I also enjoy the camp. Thing that makes me interest in this camp is the student who join the camp, they’re pretty active and they’re from different city. I didn’t make many friends on there but I already glad to know them. I’m not easy going person but I love the student, for how active  they are and else. The mentor are good too, even there are so many session that almost make me slept in the middle of presentation.

While I really easy to forgot something, the paper are really help me a lot for remind me about the presentation. The camp impact will be long for me and I really glad to be servant leader. And hey, I already watch The Dark Knight and I know what Steve (If I’m not mistaken) talking about.

I really want there will be another camp like this, discuss about servant leader or else more deeper than before. Not really good in comment something, so this is all I can say to you all.”

“Meet with a lot of new friends especially from Cedarville University really blessed me in my life. I can share everything to them and tell them every problems I had in my life as a teenager and they are patiently want to hear me. Thanks to Craig for hearing my opinion.

Every session really blessed me like servant leadership, public speaking, integrity, planning a program, etc. They are very useful for me!!

Especially for Tim, when will you come to Makassar again?? You know?? My school has changed their vision and mission since your visit last year. Our school mission is became a servant leader in biblical way(or something like that). Is it wonderful?? They really applied what you have teached them. Come to Dian Harapan Makassar again, ok???

I will tell my school to send more students to the next SELC. So, contact me if there will be SELC again…”

“Comments? Wow. no need comments. (why? just read ahead)

Well, i just gotta say that you need not to know any comments from people and just immediately try the camp!! it’s very good indeed! I recommend it.

I learned a lot of things, starting from being a servant leader up to loving Indonesia. The speech thingy was good, I learned a lot from that session, how to speak in public and to get the audiences’attention. hehe. The committees are GREAT!! They are creative, nice and friendly, unlike other arrogant camp committees I use to see.^^

I got a lot of cool friends with different kinds of personality (some are just hyperbole, some are just keeping them to themselves, but most of them are too friendly to be described and written in words) and they come from different places in Indonesia. We are like a family! It was so nice knowing all the committees and friends there.

Unfortunately, the saddest time came when we were going to depart. Though it was sad (some cried) we still keep contact with one another. At last: I want to say go go SELC! Be a blessing to all parts of Indonesia (even the remote places) hehehehe. God Bless.”

“When I went to this camp, SELC, I felt nervous, affraid, blah blah blah coz I didn’t have any friend yet ( all of you know that I joint SELC without my school friend). but… after I met my roommates, I didn’t feel nervous anymore coz all of my roommates are… Friendly, Nice, and Kind ^^v They are Fiona, Yinda, and Kristie! And so the other friends…

Anyway, SELC can be a place to have friends from other cities. And the most important thing is… In SELC we know how to be a good leader ( servant leader ) and be cohesive ( in indonesian:kompak? ) in the group.

I want to share my favourite momment, can you all guess it? I don’t know about your favourite, but mine is… BONFIRE!!! BONFIRE!!! BONFIRE!!! Yes, that is my Favourite!!! In SELC we just like a family, do you realized it? that’s it my comment(s).. . Dagh… Hope to see all of you guys at next SELC ( I hope…) okay!!!!!!!! !!! Bye…Bye… (*^_^*)/)”

“I think that was a great opporTunity for me joining the SELC. I’ve learnt a lot. From all the general things until the more spesific things. such like how being a servant leader. How to prepare a speech, making life planing and other else..

Besides that, I’ve met a lot of friend from different city. Try to make friends with other people that you don’t even know. That’s the way I learnt to start a relationship. . And all of them were so good and friendly. Also for the menthors and Cedarville team. They were all so good and kind.. Helping us, teaching us with their heart and patience.

The moments that’s unforgetable for me is the BONFIRE.and also when
we were told to make some lifeplanning. I usually think about what I’m going to do, etc when I am an adult then.buT I never think it so spesificly like the one we were told to do.. And that reminded me again started to think spesificly whaT I’m going to be.what I’m going to do..

and overall.. SELC was such a good camp!! I’ve got a lot of unforgetable moments.. Thank you SELC..”
